In plain English

Rather than displaying a full map, many bikes show simplified directional arrows and distance-to-turn prompts on the dash, sourced from a navigation app running on your paired phone.

How it works

A companion app on your phone handles the actual route calculation and mapping, then sends simplified turn instructions to the dash over Bluetooth, keeping the bike's own display glanceable rather than cluttered.

What it feels like to use

Far safer than glancing at a phone mounted to the bars — a quick glance at a simple arrow and distance is much easier to process at speed.

Worth knowing: Availability and exact behaviour vary a lot between manufacturers — always check your specific model's handbook.
