ABS Warning Light

Your brakes still work — but the anti-lock safety net is switched off.

What it means

This tells you the ABS system has detected a fault and disabled itself as a precaution. Normal braking still works exactly as before — you simply lose the anti-lock function.

What to do

Ride cautiously, particularly in wet or low-grip conditions, and get it checked as soon as practical — you won't have the extra safety margin ABS provides in an emergency stop.

Likely causes

  • A faulty wheel speed sensor
  • A damaged or dirty sensor ring or reluctor
  • A wiring fault or connector corrosion
  • Low battery voltage affecting the ABS module
Heads up: Exact symbols and behaviour vary by make and model — always check your owner's handbook, and speak to a qualified mechanic if you're unsure.
