What are Fork Seals?
The rubber seals that keep fork oil in and dirt out where the fork tubes slide.

In plain English
Where the moving fork tube slides through the fixed fork leg, a seal keeps the internal damping oil contained while wiping road grit off the tube on every stroke.
A simple analogy
“Like the seal around a piston in a bicycle pump — keeping the working fluid in and everything else out.”
How it works
A tight-fitting rubber lip seal wraps around the fork tube, sliding with it thousands of times per ride. Grit trapped under the seal, age, or simple wear can let it start weeping oil, which both reduces damping performance and can contaminate the front brake if it reaches the disc.
Signs of trouble
- ⚠Visible oil film or wetness on the fork tube
- ⚠Oil spray marks on the front mudguard or lower fairing
- ⚠Spongy, inconsistent front suspension feel
- ⚠Reduced damping performance over repeated bumps
