Reverse Assist Explained
Lets an electric motorcycle move backwards under motor power — handy for manoeuvring without dismounting.
In plain English
Some electric motorcycles, freed from a conventional gearbox, can run the motor briefly in reverse, letting the rider back the bike out of a tight parking space under power rather than walking it back by hand.
How it works
Selected via a dash button or switch, reverse mode runs the motor controller in the opposite rotational direction at low, carefully limited power, moving the bike backwards at walking pace under full rider control.
What it feels like to use
Particularly useful for a heavier electric bike on a slight incline or in a tight parking bay — small, but one of those features you don't miss until you don't have it.
Worth knowing: Availability and exact behaviour vary a lot between manufacturers — always check your specific model's handbook.
