FI (Fuel Injection) Warning

The fuel injection system has logged a fault — similar to an engine management light on car-derived systems.

What it means

Common on bikes with a dedicated FI light separate from a general engine management light, this specifically flags a fault within the fuel injection system — sensors, injectors or the fuel pump.

What to do

Ride gently to a dealer or garage capable of reading the fault codes. Avoid hard acceleration in case the fault relates to fuel delivery, which could cause a sudden loss of power.

Likely causes

  • A faulty injector or fuel pump
  • A sensor fault, such as throttle position or intake pressure
  • A wiring or connector issue
  • A software fault requiring a reset or reflash
Heads up: Exact symbols and behaviour vary by make and model — always check your owner's handbook, and speak to a qualified mechanic if you're unsure.
